“Building the Open Meterverse,” a session jointly hosted by Marc Petit, VP and General Manager, Unreal Engine at Epic Games and Patrick Cozzi, creator of 3D Tiles and CEO of Cesium, anticipates the need for an open immersive network for gaming, social, and enterprise collaboration. The 48th annual graphics and animation event kicked off this week (August 9-13), featuring keynote talks by Dr. Kate Darling, research specialist at the MIT Media Lab, on the nature of human-robot interactions Hany Farid, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, on the danger of deepfake technology and more.Īs people minimized social contact and retreated indoors, digital worlds emerged to fill not only the emotional void but also some practical functions. This year, with the emerging Delta variant raising alarms and forcing many to postpone their business trips once more, SIGGRAPH is again hosting the event virtually. You can join the discussion on Nvidia's GTC 2022 keynote on the OC3D Forums. When the pandemic struck last year, SIGGRAPH, like many other tradeshows, made the painful but necessary decision to host a virtual event instead. Watch Nvidia's GTC 2022 keynote below when it starts at 3PM GMT. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang kicks off #GTC22 with a keynote that presents the latest breakthroughs in #AI, data science, high performance computing, graphics, edge computing, networking, and autonomous machines. Nvidia's next-generation gaming GPUs will reportedly use Nvidia's planned Lovelace architecture, with Nvidia's Hopper architecture being focused on AI and accelerated computing. While Ampere is an architecture that Nvidia has used within both the gaming and accelerated computing markets, Nvidia is reportedly shifting its strategy with their latest products. Note that Nvidia's Hopper products will not be focused on gaming. That said, we will need to wait for Nvidia's GTC keynote to see exactly what Hopper will deliver. Rumour has it that Nvidia's Hopper architecture will be Nvidia's first MCM (Multi-Chip-Module) design, a move that may facilitate a large generational performance leap between Ampere and Hopper. Nvidia's Hopper products will likely replace the company's Ampere A100 accelerators, delivering to customers higher performance levels using new architectural innovations, faster memory, and (probably) a smaller lithography node. This is also supported by Nvidia's frequent mentions of AI and accelerated computing within their blog post. This is a clear tease of Nvidia's planned Hopper architecture, the architecture that is alleged to succeed Ampere within the accelerated computing market. In a blog post on the company's website, Nvidia has stated that they are "Hopped Up" for GTC 2022. Since then, Nvidia has said little about the graphics card, and today is an opportunity to Nvidia to shed light on the company's new flagship gaming product. Today, it is also possible that Nvidia will be updating gamers on their RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, which was revealed back at CES 2022. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, will be personally leading the keynote, a fact that confirms that Nvidia will be making some high profile reveals at today's event. Nvidia's GTC 2022 keynote will start at 8 AM Pacific Time, acting as the announcement event of the company's Hopper HPC architecture.
